Hachibuse Highlands, which is part of the Hyonosen-Ushiroyama-Nagisan Quasi-National Park is situated approximately 800m above sea level. Hachibuse Highlands has been dubbed the, "outdoor sports mecca" of the Kinki region since you can enjoy many outdoor activities all year round. In summer you can enjoy hiking, mountain climbing, paragliding; however when it becomes winter the Hachikita ski resort becomes crowded with skiiers and snowboarders. The ski resort boasts a large ski slope with runs that cater to all skill levels, and that can be enjoyed regardless of the weather due to artificial snow making machine. At the surrounding inns you can eat what is called "Hachibuse Nabe," which contains duck and fresh vegetables, to warm and rejuvinate your body from your exciting day on the slopes.
