Kinosaki Onsen, situated in northern Tajima, boasts an approximately 1300 year history and is well known hot spring (onsen) town throughout Japan.
Not only is it close to Kyoto, but Kinosaki Onsen is known as Japan's #1 place to wear yukata (Japanese Kimonos).
In the town of Yumura Onsen, hot spring culture is deeply ingrained in daily life. Here, you can casually experience the culture of boiling locally produced things like wild plants, vegetables, rice, etc.utilizing the super-hot 98°C source spring "Arayu," which has continued since ancient times. Recommended activities include making Arayu pudding and creating silky soft-boiled eggs. Visiting the often-televised Obaa Cafe or writing a dream letter at Yume Chiyokan are sure to become memorable experiences. The weak alkaline spring waters, which have a pH of 7.29, are gentle on the skin, offering a "beauty bath" that leaves your skin smooth and your body warm to the core long after bathing. Drinking the spring water is possible as well.
Toyooka boasts a variety of wonderful spots: the beautiful Takeno Beach, with some of the best water quality in Kansai; Kannabe Highlands for enjoying nature activities such as skiing and trekking; Izushi, where you can experience Japan's oldest Japanese-style clock and the unique culture of a Sara Soba tour; and the nostalgic mountain village of Tanto, known for its lovely flower-themed events.
The Takeda Castle Ruins, also called the "Castle in the Sky", is a famous sightseeing spot in Asago City, Hyogo Prefecture. The sight of the castle ruins standing above the surrounding sea of clouds gives the wondrous impression that the castle is floating in the clouds.
Also in Asago City, you can see three types of ruins, dating from the Tumulus period, the Warring States period, and the modern industrialization period.
In Kami Town, Hyogo Prefecture, you can enjoy both the mountains and the sea. The town is also blessed with an abundance of tourism attractions, more than enough for a one day trip. Included in these is a section of the UNESCO Global Geopark coastline, which makes the town a geological point of interest.
