Ikuno Ginzan

Experience the romance and history of this
1200 year old silver mine.
Here is one of Japan's best-known mines with a history of 1200 years. It was said that Silver had been mined in such abundances that it seemed the earth was made of silver. You can enjoy a 40-minute walk through the old mine, but make sure to bring a jacket because the tenperture is around 13 degrees (Celsius) year around. There is also a restaurant whose specialty is "Ikuno Hayashi-rice!"

Opening Hours 9:10 a.m. - 5:20 p.m. (April-October) / 9:10 a.m. - 4:50 p.m. (November) / 9:40 a.m. - 4:20 p.m. (December-February) / 9:40 a.m. - 4:50 p.m. (March)
Last admission to the tourist mine is 40 minutes before closing.
Holidays: Closed every Tuesday (December-February); if Tuesday is a holiday, then closed the following Wednesday. Also closed during the New Year holiday period
