Route map
Route directions and land marks
On this long course you will enjoy the scenery and landscape of the famous "Kasumi Kaigan" (Kasumi Coast), while catching glimpses of fishing boats from the ports located to the east and west on your way to the "Kasumi Kaigan Community Space Shiokaze Park". A calming sea breeze will wash over you as you walk along the wooden boardwalk facing out over the sandy beach; this is a great place for running or jogging.
- 1) Kasumi B&G Ocean Center parking lot
- The starting point for this course is the parking lot of Kasumi B&G Ocean Center. From here it is about a 3 minute walk to the Kami Town Geopark and Marine Cultural Center, you will see it on your right. Here you can discover and learn about the geological heritage and natural environment of Kami-cho through dioramas and models of the San'in Kaigan Geopark.
- 2) Kami Town Geopark and Marine Cultural Center
- Leave from "Kami Town Geopark and Marine Cultural Center" and proceed to the left past the large industrial building. You will then come upon the fishing boats anchored in Kasumi East Port, climb the hill just past the port for about 25minutes and you will arrive at "Okami Park" where you can view the Sea of Japan. This park is a designated "scenic spot" on the Kasumi Coast by the country for its cherry blossoms in the spring and clumps of daylily that can be seen in the summer. It is also a famous for being selected as one of the 100 sunset viewing spots in Japan. Evening walks here are highly recommended.
- 3) Okami Park
- Go straight ahead from "Okami Park" for about 15minutes, walking past Kasumi West Port to "Kasumi Shiokaze Park". As you approach you will see the spacious grassy area of the gardens. When you turn right at the fishing tackle shop you will come upon the promenade and pine forests that are maintained along the seacoast. You can walk along the wooden boardwalk and the steps as well as on the sandy beaches of Kasumi Beach located just out in front.
- 4) Yada Bridge
- Walk around Yada Bridge and just a 5 minute walk past the bride you will see a contemporary looking building on the right hand side. This is the restaurant "KAN-ICHI" which offers a lunch menu featuring local fresh seafood. There is also "Plage", a sweets and cafe with a seaside terrace where you can enjoy homemade cakes. Both establishments are excellent choices to enjoy panoramic ocean views from while having lunch and refreshing from your walk.
- 5) Shiokaze Park
- From "Plage", enter the "Shiokaze Park" promenade; about a 5-minute walk past the end of the parking lot you will see the grass plaza. From here you will come back to the larger road, turn left and go straight ahead on this road.
- 6) Crossroad intersection
- After about 10 minutes you will arrive at a crossroad.
- 7) East harbor
- Turn right at the crossroad and after 3 minutes or so you will come to the east harbor, then at the end of the road where it splits 3-ways turn right. After turning turn again at the first left and continue along the wider 2-lane road.
- 8) Traffic light near end point
- Continuing down the road for about 5 minutes, you will see a traffic light. Turn left just before the light and you will arrive back at the starting point.
