Walk around Takeda Castle ruins and Teramachi Street
At the summit of the mountain you will find the remains of the ancient mountain castle, Takeda Castle. It takes about 40 minutes to walk from the foot of the mountain to the castle ruins. Walk down the mountain after enjoying a panoramic view from the stone walls and castle towers that still remain almost as they had been. There are various ways to enjoy the area, such as taking a walk down Teramachi-dori around Takeda Station or visiting the information center to learn about the history of the castle town.

- 1) Old Sake Brewery EN
- The old sake brewery EN began as a liquor store around 1625, the main building is designated as a national cultural property.
- 2) Takeda Castle Ruins
- The castle was first constructed during the Muromachi period by Yamana Sozen, the military governor of Tajima. The castle stood for more than 150 years until it was abandoned in 1600.
- 3) Takeda Teramachi-dori
- Teramachi-dori is a street at the foot of the mountain where the castle is, and is lined with four temples. Temple is "Tera" in Japanese. These are temples that moved near to the ruins of the chief retainers mansion at the time, and are still present today.
- 4) Joko-ji Temple Ishibashi Stone Bridge
- A stone bridge from the Edo period spans across Teramchi-dori. The oldest stone bridge of Jokoji Temple has a memorandum inscribed of its construction in 1707.
- 5) Hoju-ji Temple
- Founded in Takeda Kawaramachi town in 1578 as a member of the Jodo sect Chion-in school. The temple then moved to its current location in 1606. At the temple you will find a memorial tower of Akamatsu Hirohide, the last lord of Takeda Castle.
- 6) Takeda Station
- The current station building is original building, built in 1906. The town especially thriving when Takeda flourished as a Tajima beef market.
